What's in your box? #2: car || I LOVE DRIVING! Allow me to continue to share about “what’s in my box.” On my desk where I do most of my coaching calls, I have this small clear box. Inspired by the writings of Acuff and Batterson, I have placed items that hold great significance as a lean forward in my life and leadership particularly in terms of connecting cross-culturally. The next item I will highlight is the car. I love driving, and road trips are a blast! In coaching though, I am not the driver. My client is the driver, I am alongside as a passenger guiding the conversation with the client’s destination in mind. I ask questions that help explore relevant issues and ask leaders about any possible blindspots. What makes COACHING so effective is that coaches help clients see and overcome the blindspots that exist, but are simply unseen as we journey through life. Blindspots could include-- unhealthy patterns, an inability to form relevant action, or not dealing with stress or conflict. I am cultivating a space where leaders can flourish by leveraging the power of coaching to promote an authentic life posture that is focused on leaning forward to make long-term cross-cultural connections. What’s in your box?
